Who We Are
The Urban Community Network (UCN) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fostering secure, healthy, and resilient neighborhoods where children and families can flourish. Guided by the wisdom that “It takes a village to raise a child,” UCN holds that reinforcing local support systems is vital for enduring transformation.
We recognize the essential role neighborhoods and families play in providing the guidance, accountability, and care necessary for youth development. By focusing our investments where families live, we enable residents to take the lead in building better futures.
We advocate for a shift away from incarceration as the primary response for at-risk youth. Believing that excessive reliance on the juvenile justice system can be counterproductive and costly, UCN promotes community-based interventions and prevention strategies that tackle root issues and bolster family stability.
